KRTS Convenes Community Dialogue on Education

On Thursday, October 18, KRTS: Marfa Public Radio convened its first community dialogue on education at the Marfa Public Library. Representatives from the teaching staff and administration of every educational institution in Marfa were present.

On the panel sat Cynthia Wimberley, Principal of Marfa Junior/Senior High School, Andrew Peters, the recently appointed Superintendent of the Marfa Independent School District (listen to KRTS’ interview with Mr. Peters here), Emily Steriti, head teacher at Marfa Montessori, Jo Nevares, a teacher at the newly founded Marfa International School and Tom Michael, General Manager of Marfa Public Radio. In attendance were over 40 members of the Marfa community, including teachers, parents and concerned citizens.
